I even put it in for an extra 30 seconds.its still SUPER delicious! But next time I think I’ll add more shakeo and start with 1:30. Thank you!!

    1. Thanks for letting us know on the time! Maybe our microwaves are different strengths! I need to see what mine is and update it. So glad it still turned out to be super delicious!!

  3. Teaspoons or Tablespoons
I read it as tablespoons and it seemed runny

    1. I did Tablespoons of Almond Milk. I wonder if our microwaves may be different power-levels. I know sometimes the watts can matter when you cook things. My microwave for reference is 1000 watts. So maybe a few more sections if it’s runny? So sorry it didn’t turn out perfectly the first time!

FAQs

Why is my mug cake not fluffy? ›

This is likely because your mug is too small, or you added too much baking powder. Measure accurately and make sure your mug is at least 10oz in volume. Why is my chocolate mug cake rubbery or dry? A rubbery mug cake is indicative of being overcooked, or incorrect measurements.

Why is my mug cake rubbery? ›

Eggs tend to make mug cakes have a bit of a rubbery texture, so bye-bye eggs and hello tender, fluffy cake.

How to keep mug cake moist? ›

This is a pretty important tip: a little water will prevent the top of your cake from over-baking and drying out (and becoming rubbery). Don't worry—it all evaporates in the microwave and ensures a perfect, moist texture every time.

Why do mug cakes taste weird? ›

This is especially true when you add too much baking soda to your mug cake mixture, which often results in an unpleasant bitter flavor that makes for a disappointing cake.

Why don't mug cakes use eggs? ›

One entire egg added to a 10 or 12-ounce mug can leave your simplistic cake tasting like custard, and might also make your mug cake too wet when incorporated into the other ingredients.

Can you eat raw mug cake batter? ›

Let's make this simple: No. Eating uncooked dough or batter can make you severely sick. The primary risk comes from flour.

What is the secret to a fluffy cake? ›

The most crucial tip? Instead of buying an entire box of cake flour, simply incorporate two tablespoons of cornstarch into 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour. This blocks the formation of gluten in the flour, which produces a lighter, fluffier cake.

Why is my cake heavy and not fluffy? ›

Your cake is too dense A cake that is overly dense typically has too much liquid, too much sugar or too little leavening (not excess flour, as is commonly thought).

Why is my steamed cake not fluffy? ›

The Method Of Mixing

If it is stirred quickly in the same direction, the batter will easily become gluten, causing the cake to collapse or not be fluffy. Therefore, when mixing the batter, you should mix with the folding method, so as to reduce the probability of defoaming and avoid the batter from becoming gluten.

Why is my cake fluffy but dry? ›

First, you need to measure, mix, and bake it just right. Fortunately, that's easier than it sounds. A dry cake is usually the result of one of the following pitfalls: using the wrong ingredients, making mistakes while measuring or mixing the batter, or baking the cake too long or at too high a temperature.
