Evansville Courier Sunday, April 3, 1994 DEATHS Edwin Elliott Edwin Donald Elliott, 78, of Evansville, died at 4:45 p.m, Saturday at his home. He was vice president of personnel at Mead Johnson and Company for 27 years. He was a World War II veteran, receiving the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Edwin Elliott Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was active in more than 25 civic organizations. He served as the first president of the University of Southern Indiana Foundation, president of Mead Johnson Foundation, founding president of Evansville's Freedom Festival, past president of Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center, president of Civic Center Board and president of Evansville Rotary Club.

He was a member of the following boards: Evansville Philharmonic, Evansville Museum and Southern Indiana Higher Education, and was a member of Pi Kappa Psi, Evansville Kennel Club and Evansville Country Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and later Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Surviving are 1 his wife of 47 years, Mary Jane; a daughter, Jane Drebus of Evansville; a son, E. Donald of New Haven, and five grandchildren, David, Robert and Donna Jane Drebus and Eve and Ian Elliott. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m.

of New Harmony; three sisters, Stella Miller and Helen Becker, both of Evansville, and Irene Huber of Newburgh; two brothers, Edward and Donald Kuhr, both of Evansville; and 10 grandchildren. Her husband, James Edward, died in 1982. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, continued at 1 p.m. at St.

Kathleen Flynn Kathleen Flynn Kathleen Flynn Kathleen C. Flynn, 53, of Evansville, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at her home after an illness. A graduate of St. Mary's College at Notre Dame, she was one of the founders and former owners of Cornerstone Catholic Bookstore.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, a cofounder of Kathleen Flynn Breast Cancer Support Group and an active member of the Cursillo movement. Surviving are her husband, James a daughter, Maureen A. Flynn of Evansville; four sons, James of Columbus, Ohio, Edward J. of Chicago, and John P. and Michael both of Evansville; her mother, Jean Carney; and two brothers, Robert M.

Carney of Delray Beach, and J. Patrick Carney of Loveland, Colo. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continued at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Rev.

Paul Howell Sr. Paul James Howell 73, of Evansville, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Medco North. He retired from Sterling Brewery after 20 years and was a member of Simpson's United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Connie Bomham of Indianapolis and Paul Howell Sr.

Sharron Hohmann of Brownsburg, three sons, Paul Jr. of Noblesville, Gary and Greg, both of Evansville; a sister, Virginia Rogge of Evansville; a brother, Hobert Howard of Union City, 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are pending at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel. Leona Deig Leona S. Deig, 78, of rural Evansville, died at 4 a.m.

Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Ind. Surviving are two daughters, Fern Montgomery of Owensville, and Darlene Wolf of Evansville; a son, Daryl of Carmel, three sisters, Norma Herrmann and Verna Winiger, both Evansville, and Elnora Fischer of Mount Vernon, three brothers, Edward, Clarence and George Mesker, all of Evansville; and seven grandchildren. Her husband, Orville, died in 1988.

Monday at the funeral home. Mary Bradley Mary (Stepp) Bradley, 74, of Evansville, died at 7:24 4 a.m. Thursday at Deaconess Hospital. She was a University of Evansville graduate and a well-known musician throughout the TriState. She served as secretary and lady attendant at Gaines Funeral Home for more than 15 years, retiring in 1983, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Carroll Greene of Columbus, Ohio; five brothers, William Stepp of Versailles, Marc Stepp of Detroit, Thomas Stepp of Warren, and Andrew and Cecil Stepp, both of San Diego; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church, the Revs. W.R. Brown Sr.

He was a retired coal miner and construction worker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Drakesboro, Ky. He was a member of Howe Dean Lodge 166 in Drakesboro and Liberty Baptist Church Golden Age Club. Surviving are a friend who cared for him, Eunice Suggs of Evansville; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert W. Smith, 64, died Wednesday at his home following an illness. He was a funeral director in the Vincennes area for 43 years and a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of Vincennes Masonic Lodge 1, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine Temple, Knox County Shrine Motor Patrol, American Legion and Indiana Funeral Directors Association. He was past president of Knox County Shrine Club.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Lou Perkins; two daughters, Tamara Smith of Vincennes and Kelli Beth Smith of Santa Monica, Calif; two sons, Rick W. of Indianapolis and Ron of Hillsboro, W. a sister, Maxine Barrett of Owensville; and four brothers, Harold and William both of Vincennes, Thomas of Princeton and Don of Evansville. She was a retired social worker for the Hopkins County School System and had taught in Tuscumbia, Detroit and Los Angeles County school systems.

She was a member of Kentucky Association of School Administrators, Business and Professional Women's Association, Delta Sigma Theta, the board of the American Red Cross, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Pennyroyal Regional Mental Health and Mental Retardation Board, and James Madison Days Inc. She was a Kentucky Colonel.
