A FOR CLASSIFIED DIAL 2-4561 Jaycee Contest Again Postponed Misfortune again struck the "Voice of Democracy" contest being sponsored by the Jaycees Sunday when one of the two girl finalsts, scheduled to appear before the cameras of WHIZ last night was stricken ill with mumps. There were few entries in the school elimination. Then when the semi-finals were scheduled another hitch developed and it was decided have those qualifying appear on a telecast for the finals. All was set for last night at 6 o'clock when word was received the girl entrant from Hopewell high was ill and the Roseville girl entrant was notified a new date would be set later. Program For Institute Today McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio -The annual community institute being held at Neelyville tonight and tomorrow will have the following program: The meeting tonight will open at 7:30 o'clock with Ray Patterson as chairman.

Following a session of community singing, Charles Smith will lead the devotionals. William Manahan, institute speaker, will talk on "The House With The Golden Windows." The choir of the Ebenezer church will provide special music and D. S. Van Horn will show a movie on "My European Tour." Raymond Stewart will be chairman for the Tuesday morning meeting which will convene at 10 o'clock. Following a song session and devotionals the Morgan-Meigsville school will present a program and Mr.

Manahan will speak on "Purposes and Wishes." A pot luck dinner will be served at 12 noon. Burdette Hann will be chairman of the afternoon meeting which begins at 1:30 o'clock. The meeting will open with community singand various committees will make their reports. Special musical numbers will be presented and Mr. Manahan will speak on "Along Life's Road." County Extension Agent Wesley S.

Green will lead a general discussion on "Recreation Family and Community." The benediction will close the Institute. Exhibits being shown will be: For men Corn 6 ears to a plate; potatoes, 5 to a plate; miniature bale of hay; homemade and handy devices made on and used around the home or warm. Device or sketch of same must be exhibited. Exhibits open to women will be: crocheted vanity sets; embroidery vanity sets; aprons and butter. First, second and prizes will be paid in each division.

Common Pleas Court Herbert Kasier was arraigned before Judge C. M. Reicker, Saturday morning and plead guilty to being in actual physical control of a car while intoxicated. Charles Thomas Dies At Hospital Charles Hoadley Thomas, 70, of 904. Muskingum avenue, died at 9:15 o'clock last night in Good Samaritan hospital where he had been a patient for the past week. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church and had been employed by the Hazel Atlas Glass company, plant No.2 Surviving are his widow, Margaret of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Nicol of McConnelsville; a son, Charles William Thomas of Zanesville Rt.6; three grandchildren; and a sister, McConnelsville.

Willett, 28, of city, was being held in city jail for investigation last night. (NEA Telephoto) New Chauffeur's Licensing Procedure Starts Tomorrow Drastic changes in the ure for issuing chauffeur's licenses were revealed Sunday by the Ohio Department of Highway Safety in a major action unqualified drivers from operating commercial motor vehicles. The new regulations, announced by Corporal H. E. Stehmeyer, commanding officer of the State Highway Patrol Post at Zanesville, are effective tomorrow, December 1.

Yule Seal Sales Reach $6,333 The annual sale of Christmas seals so far this year has hit a total of $6,333.60 in 2,999 letters received it was announced Saturday at the Muskingum County Tuberculosis association offices in the Health Center. sum represents the returns from the first two weeks of the sale and is slightly under the total for the same period last year when 3,099 letters were received. At that time the total was $6,653. A total of 18,000 letters, each containing 300 stamps, were mailed two weeks ago to residents of all parts of Muskingum county. The funds from the seals are used to carry on the work of the association.

Model Railroad Holds Open House Youngsters and oldsters are being invited by the Zanesville Model Railroad club to visit the club quarters on the second floor of the Spot restaurant building again tonight and Tuesday night between 7 and 10 o'clock and inspect the layout and rolling stock as part of the club's annual open house. A number took advantage of the invitation yesterday. Tickets will be given each child visiting the club rooms each evening and on each Tuesday for the coming three weeks, a toy train will be presented to a youngster. In addition, the winner will appear on WHIZ-TV at 5:15 each Friday on the Popcorn Playhouse telecast. Open house will be held each Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for three weeks.

Snow Or Showers Expected Today Light snow or possible showers are expected in southeastern Ohio today according to the weatherman who said the early morning hours might see the arrival of a freezing rain. Temperatures are expected to climb above Sunday's high of 35 degrees at municipal airport. The Sunday morning low was 14. There was a light snow shower last that continued about 10 minutes. Continued cloudy and for slightly warmer is the forecast day, turning colder tomorrow night.

Turkey Supper At East Fultonham The Women's Society of Christian Service of the East Fultonham Methodist church, will hold a turkey supper at the church Thursday evening. Times Wrong Guess Costs Driver Second News A wrong guess cost a motorist a $35 bond last night. Patrolman William Criswell and Floyd Lemmon were on routine patrol on West Main street when a car ulled from the curb directly into the path of the cruiser. The auto then whipped up Augusta street with the cruiser in pursuit. The officers finally flagged the motorist to the curb. Asked why he was driving the the motorist replied occupied he by car was a couple of smart alecks.

Brought to headquarters, the driver, who gave his name As Charles Everett Matheney, 20, of 1344 Coopermill road, was charged with reckless operation. He was released on $35 bond. Putnam Avenue Resident Dies Mrs. Gertrude R. Maxwell, 49, of 827 Putnam avenue died at her home at 10:15 o'clock last night.

She had been ill since April. She' was born in New Lexington and had lived in Zanesville 20 years. Mrs. Maxwell was the daughter of Amos and Laura Rhinehart Marvis. She was a member of the Woodlawn Avenue Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband, Harley; four sons, Roy of 827 Putnam avenue, Wilbert of Lookout drive and Joe and Leo, both of the home; and three grandchildren. The body is at the Putnam chapel of the Mader-Peoples funeral home. Wave Of Crashes On US Route 21 CAMBRIDGE, Nov. 29 U. S.

Route 21 south of here was the scene of at least six traffic accidents that injured seven persons in the past 48 hours according to the state highway patrol Sunday night. The wave of accidents started Friday night when four persons were hospitals here. The crash involved autos, driven by John Dillmore, 40, Rt. 6 Joseph Waryu, 37, of Elyria. Dillmore is in Guernsey Memorial hospital with a skull fracture.

Wayrue, his wife Pauline 28 and daughter Peggy Sue, 9, were treated in St. Francis and he was later arrested for driving left of center line, posting $20 bond for a Dec. 5. Leonard Lanning, 16, of Byesville is in St. Francis with a skull fracture and leg injury after being struck by an auto in Byesville Saturday night.

The Byesville marshal said he ran in front of a car driven by Charles Hohman of Caldwell who was returning from his work in Massillon. Mrs. Doris Hall, Pleasant City, and Robert McVicker, of Summerfield were injured but did not require hospitalization when cars driven by McVicker and Amos Hall collided. The patrol said Hall stopped on the highway to remove the carcass of a deer that had been killed by another car when McVicker ran into Hall's auto. McVikcer had several broken ribs and Mrs.

Hall a neck injury. W. L. Dilley, Akron, was unhurt when his auto cross out of control after he had passed another auto northof North Salem Sunday morning. Cars driven by Isaac Hylton, 50, of Akron, and Edward Fairhurst, 28, of Byesville sideswiped Sunday night north of Byesville.

A car driven by William Bailey, 22, Akron slid into an auto dripen by George Pavilak, Rt. 2 Cambridge, on a bridge Saturday night Neither was injured. New Salvation Army Home Formally Dedicated Sunday Capacity crowds that filled the building to overflowing witnessed the formal dedication of the new Salvation Army home on North Seventh street Sunday afternoon and for services last evening. The new building drew loud praise from Col. William Harris, of New York, eastern field secretary and Lt. Col. Edward Carey of Cleveland who were principal speakers for the day.

The program planned for the dedication was carried out in every detail and refreshments were served to 203 persons following the service. Representatives of the Army's advisory board and William Weiss Called By Death William R. Weiss, 66, of Alexandria, a retired machinist who was known in Zanesville and a member of the Eagles lodge here, died Saturday at the Newark City hospital. He had been ill five years. Under the new rules setup by the Ohio Department of Highway Safety persons holding regular operaors licenses will be required take an examination before their license can be converted to chauffeur's permit. In the past the holder valid operator's license was permitted to convert it to a chauffeur's license upon application and without a test. Patrol, Captain M. A. Mock, officer in charge of driver examination, said that between 60,000 and 80,000 persons converted operator's licenses to chauffeur's permits last year without an additional examination.

Must Take Test Persons holding a valid operator's license will not be required obtain a temporary permit from deputy registrar before receiving chauffeur's license but will be required to take a chauffeur's examination, which includes a written and road test. Those who fail to pass the test, which includes a vision test, will be denied chauffeur's permit. Those whose vision fail to meet minimum requirements will be advised to consult an eye specialist of their choice and then back to the patrol driver examination station with his vision sufficiently corrected. Those who fail the chauffeur's test due to inability to pass the road test or written esamination will be permitted a retest at a later date. Any person found totally incompetent by the examiner, will not be retested and be taken to entirely revoke their driver's license.

29 -(P S. Robert Weirich, 52, mayor of Massillon since 1942, died today in a hospital where he had been a patient since suffering a heart attack Nov. 16. Muskingum county finals in the annual Prince of Peace contest sponsored by the Ohio Council of Churches will be held next Sunday afternoon in the First Church of Christ and the Market Street Baptist church. Two local entrants in the district finals are to be selected.

Rev. Robert S. Adams, pastor of Fair Oaks Baptist church is county chairman and will be in charge of the contest at the North Sixth street church while Rev. E. C.

Traylor will preside at the contest in the First Church of Christ.
